A free, open, community-maintained database that helps any golfer understand their equipment completely — no gate, no signup, no bias. In a category full of brand-tilted “fitting tools,” this is meant to be the neutral one. Its trustworthiness is the whole point, so we'd rather tell you exactly how it works than ask you to take it on faith.
A spec-by-spec reference for golf equipment — drivers, shafts, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, wedges, and putters. Every field carries its own source and a verification state, so you can see not just what a number is but where it came from and how confident we are in it. Everything is visible on the page. Nothing is held back, blurred, or saved for a signup.
The Golf Equipment Database is owned by GolferX, Inc. and maintained with the support of Clubfitting.ai, GolferX's golf-club fitting platform. That platform is free to use too; it earns its keep through affiliate links when it helps a golfer find gear, and a share of that supports this database. We'd rather tell you that plainly — an open relationship is something to be straightforward about, not to tuck away.
The support flows one way, and it does one thing: it keeps the database free. This database itself carries no affiliate links and earns nothing — nothing here is ranked, worded, or weighted to sell you a product. A golfer who finds everything they need on this page and never clicks any further is exactly what we're here for.
All data here is openly licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0 — free to use, adapt, and share, including commercially, as long as you credit it and keep your version open. That “keep it open” condition is deliberate: it means the community's work can never be enclosed in a closed product. The data is genuinely reusable by anyone — including us, on the same terms as everyone else.
Records start from an expert-curated catalog and improve through community contributions. Anyone can sign in and suggest an edit — correct a spec, add a source, or flag a problem. Submissions publish immediately, marked unreviewed, and earn a verified badge once their citation is confirmed by a maintainer. The contribution log is permanent and append-only, so corrections and reversions stay on the record. The rules everyone plays by are public, in the contributor terms.
This page has one job: to give you a straight, complete answer about your equipment, and we're dedicated to keeping it that way. It stays free to read, every spec is shown alongside its source, and nothing is tilted toward any brand, product, or partner. There are no popups or pressure here — the information simply sits in front of you, kept as accurate and current as the community and our maintainers can make it. If the way the project is supported ever needs to evolve, we'll do it openly and in keeping with these principles, never by quietly putting the data behind a wall.
Being honest about where we are: community contribution is live for drivers and rolling out across the rest of the categories. On the roadmap — and we'll announce each as it ships — are a downloadable open copy of the full dataset, broader contribution types (assessments, player feedback, tour usage), and visible contributor recognition. We'd rather under-claim and ship than describe things that don't exist yet.
